Preserving Affordable Senior Housing: Celebrating the Renewal of Silo Crossing Senior

On July 28, 2026, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of Silo Crossing Senior, marking the completion of the rehabilitation of 64 affordable senior homes across Coffeyville.

Located at 401 South Union Street and 701 Lewark Street, this scattered-site community includes 62 one-bedroom and 2 two-bedroom homes, providing seniors with safe, comfortable, and affordable places to call home.

The rehabilitation was made possible through a strong partnership of public and private resources, including 9% federal and state Low-Income Housing Tax Credits awarded by Kansas Housing Resources Corporation, a USDA Section 515 loan, construction-to-permanent financing from Legacy Bank & Trust Company, federal equity from Midwest Housing Equity Group (MHEG), and state equity from Advantage Capital.

The project was developed by Rural Housing Developers-Kansas, LLC, with Murdoch Contracting, LLC serving as general contractor and Sustainable Management, Inc. providing property management.

Beyond the improvements to the homes themselves, Silo Crossing Senior offers residents a welcoming community building with laundry facilities and new amenities designed to encourage connection and enjoyment, including a shade structure, raised garden beds, a library, and custom concrete cornhole boards.

We’re proud to celebrate the completion of this important preservation project and grateful to all of the partners who helped bring new life to Silo Crossing Senior. Most importantly, we’re excited to see these improvements benefit the residents who call Coffeyville home.
