“Typically, there are challenges that arise from
time to time,” he says. “But on this project in
particular, there haven’t really been any chal-
lenges that we’ve encountered so far.”
OAKSHIRE TRAILS
Four Corners Development broke ground on a
Colorado property for the first time this sum-
mer. Oakshire Trails, a 65-unit affordable senior
living community in the town of Pueblo, is also
scheduled for completion in May.
A new construction effort, Oakshire Trails
comes at a price tag of about $10 million—and
Hamilton says it is money well spent.
“We have already conducted our groundbreak-
ing ceremony for this particular development,”
he says. “It’s always great to see the relation-
ship of the community and city blossom from
our first city council meeting to a groundbreak-
ing ceremony and to a ribbon-cutting ceremo-
ny. We truly feel that we are engrained into the
community at this point.”
Hamilton also says that the design and con-
struction emphasize active living.
“What I really like from a construction stand-
point is what we are doing on the back side of
the building,” he says. “We have a walking trail
and we will have a gazebo out there for parties
and entertaining. It is located in Colorado, one
of the sunniest states in the country, so there
will be a lot of opportunities for entertainment
out there. That’s one of the things we love
about the property—it gets you out into the
outdoors.”
Beyond the on-site amenities, Oakshire Trails
has the accessible location that Four Corners
Development often seeks.
“This project meets our criteria of being close to
retail and areas of town people can access eas-
ily,” Hamra says. “The city has worked with us
in developing a bus stop out front for that area.
It’s easy to walk to some local restaurants and
retail locations from there, as well.”
The Four Corners Development team aims to
continue finding and developing these types of
properties for many more years to come.
“The thing that’s most interesting is making sure
that we provide projects that do serve the com-
munity,” Hamra says. “We really are committed
to providing affordable housing that’s also
quality housing. What makes me most excited
is that we give people opportunities to live well
in areas that are safe and accessible. We are
giving them a home that encourages an active
lifestyle.”
